Sample Canvassing Scripts

March 22, 2022

We believe that the best way to make real change is to stand together. That’s why we canvass local businesses, asking them to stand with us in this fight against discriminatory mandates and tyranny. We want to empower everyday people to take a stand, and we want to form a peaceful community of people who support freedom.

Below are two sample canvassing scripts, one we created and another used by a successful volunteer. We encourage you to make it your own and to be yourself! Be sure to take a look at our objection handlers at the end.

Script No. 1

YOU: “Hello, may I please speak to the manager or owner of this business.” Use their name if you know it.

YOU: “Excellent, I’m (Ari). You are? (repeat their name: Ray). Great to meet you.

I’m not here to buy anything or to dine, I’m just going around to local businesses and asking them how they’re being affected by these COVID mandates.

A lot of places have told us that it’s not their responsibility to tell customers how to take care of themselves and that the mandates are making business difficult. What has your experience been?”

Listen

OWNER: “Yes, it’s messing with our business. We don’t like what is going on here”

‍YOU: “(Name), I’m with Project Stand Together and we are in every city speaking to business owners--like yourself because we have a solution for you. May we show you our solution?”

Hand them the sign. Let them take it in for a few moments. While they look, tell them more about the movement.

YOU: “This is a sign of national non-compliance that we are giving to businesses in every major city across the USA. We also have a lot of business owners in smaller towns ordering them from our website so they can place them on their storefronts. It tells customers that we do not discriminate. We are against segregation, and we stand for freedom.

You are not alone in this struggle. This sign lets all business owners like you and your customers know that they are not alone. We are in this together.

Listen

YOU: “I understand. (Answer any questions).

So, we’ve come here today to ask if you will stand together with us and with all these business owners that are standing up.

May we place this sign in your window and let other businesses and customers know that you stand with them?”

*If “YES"

YOU: “Thank you! Your support really makes a difference.

Put the sign up, or have them put it up. Ask to take pictures.

YOU: You can also join our business directory through our website (it’s on the sign). That way, customers can find and support freedom-loving businesses like you.

If you ever have any questions or want to learn more about Project Stand Together, feel free to visit our website or send us an email at hello@projectstandtogether.com

Thank you! Have a great day.”

*If “NO”

YOU: “We hope you will reconsider, it's for a great cause. (pause). If you ever want to learn more about Project Stand Together, feel free to visit our website or send us an email at hello@projectstandtogether.com. Thank you for your time, have a great day.”

*IF “I’m not sure” - Leave them with this flyer

YOU: I understand. Here’s a flyer with more information about us. If you there are any questions we can answer for you in the future or if you decide later that you’d like a sign, please reach out to us. (You may choose to give your personal contact information as well)

Script No. 2

YOU: "Hi! Is the business owner or manager here?"

Once they are present:

"I’m with Project StandTogether. I’m hoping you’re not too busy to discuss what this important project is all about?"

OWNER: "Sure! What’s it about?"

YOU: "Well, it centers around freedom. The whole point of this project is to stand against unjust government mandates. I don’t know if your business was a victim of the shutdowns? How was that for you?"

OWNER: "Yeah, we had to close for a while."

YOU: "Ugh, that sucks. I’m sorry to hear that, and I’m glad you guys are up and running. Many businesses never opened their doors again…" Allow conversation

"Well, I basically wanted to tell you that you’re not alone in this frustration. Many businesses are putting up our sign, which I’ll show you now."

As they read it: "So it says, We do not discriminate against any customer based on sex, gender, age, creed, vaccinated or unvaccinated. I stand by these words 100%. I don’t know about you… " Allow conversation

It would be really awesome to have your support and to have this sign posted on your storefront where it's visible to people.  What do you think? Can we have your support?

Objection Handlers

I’m afraid of getting fined.

That’s totally understandable. What’s great about Project StandTogether is that, if you join their business directory, they’ll help you cover or fight any of the fines you face for not complying.

I’m afraid of bad press or trolls.

When you take a stand, there is always the risk of upsetting people and making some enemies. But I can tell you without a doubt that you will get twice as much support as you get hate. People are starving for leaders to stand up for freedom.

I’m not sure. I want to talk to my boss first.
